The PP in the Senate begins to process an 'anti-squatting' law with evictions in 24 hours.

The PP has used its absolute majority in the Senate Plenary to approve the consideration of an organic bill against 'squatting', which, among other things, establishes mechanisms for eviction within 24 hours and prevents people from registering in the squatted dwelling.

The adoption of the bill was supported by the PP with 144 votes in favour and the support of Vox and UPN, while the PSOE and its parliamentary partners voted against it. The initiative now passes to the Congress of Deputies, which can either reject it or approve it so that it can continue to be processed in the Upper House.

According to the text of the bill, the PP wants the eviction to be forced within 24 hours, voluntarily from the moment it is requested by the authorities, and if it is not done voluntarily, after 24 hours, the eviction can be carried out by force.

The organic bill prevents 'squatters from being able to register in the squatted dwelling' and increases the penalties foreseen in article 245 of the Penal Code for this matter. In the same way, it contemplates a modification of article 269 of the Penal Code, adding usurpation by provocation, conspiracy and proposition to commit these crimes.
