Since July 30, 2018, vacation rental licenses can once again be applied for from the Ministry of Tourism in Mallorca.
Who is allowed to rent out vacation homes?
The law states that a new property will not receive a license for the first 5 years after completion. However, the buyer of a property that is more than 5 years old can apply for a license immediately. The requirements of the state government must be met and the guest bed must be purchased. Each owner may only rent out three properties.
What may be rented out for vacations?
Single-family homes and vacation apartments may be rented out. For vacation apartments in apartment buildings, the prerequisite must be that the other owners agree and the properties are located in one of the approved zones.
How do I get a license?
The vacation property must be located in an area where rental is possible according to the zoning plan. A corresponding certificate must be applied for from the relevant municipality. In the case of vacation apartments in an apartment building, however, the owners' meeting must first approve the vacation rental. Now the actual approval process can begin ...
