Building Description
Locations
Padenghe sul Garda
The gateway to the Valtènesi
Even from afar, the mighty ruins of Padenghe Castle, dating back to the 10th century, can be seen.
The fortress is enthroned on a hill to which the village with its small old town nestles. In the courtyard of the castle a residential area with pretty gardens has been built and from the tower there is an unforgettable view over Lake Garda and the Valtènesi.
Padenghe is the prelude to this lovely hilly landscape on the southwestern shore of the lake. Green meadows with vineyards, cypresses and olive trees stretch from here to Salò; in between there are always small villages on the hilltops.
On its flat shore Padenghe has a very nice long beach and some campsites. In the hinterland there is a very modern golf course. In the center of the complex is Palazzo Arzaga. It was built as early as the 15th century and served as a monastery for a long time.
